Pay As You Earn (PAYE)

Pay As You Earn caps payments at 10% of discretionary income and forgives any remaining balance after 20 years — generally the shortest path to forgiveness among the income-driven plans for eligible borrowers.

Who qualifies

  • You're a new borrower as of a qualifying date and took out loans after that date.
  • You have a partial financial hardship.
  • You have Direct Loans (or eligible loans consolidated into a Direct Consolidation Loan).

How National Advisory helps

We check your borrowing dates against PAYE's new-borrower rule, compare your projected payment and payoff timeline against IBR and ICR, and manage the paperwork and annual recertification once you enroll.
